What is Fiberglass
Fiberglass is composite material made up of fibers of glass. Fiberglass is a versatile composite material and almost everyone is related to it. When touched it give an itchy feeling and can be produce rashes on hand. It is formed when glass is super-heated till it becomes molten and then it is forced to pass through extremely fine holes to turn them into fibers, these fibers are of the length of microns when measured. We can simply say that fiberglass is basically very thin strands of glass that has very dynamic physical, chemical and thermal properties.After knowing What is Fiberglass now we will look on its applications. It has variety of applications in various areas. A large range of interesting objects and parts can be formed using carbon fiber, a few of which are listed below;
- Aircraft’s fuselage, propellers and nose cones.
- Vehicle Bodies and bumpers.
- Boats and Marine.
- Wind Turbine Blades.
- Helmets and other safety tools used in various sports.
- In Orthopedic field.
- Water slides.
- Electronics (in PCB)
Besides the above mentioned applications there are various other areas where fiberglass is widely applied. Giving an end to our topic that was what is fiberglass, we can simply say that fiberglass is basically very thin strands of glass that has very dynamic physical, chemical and thermal properties.
